Biology
My name is Ana Martinez and I am the Honors Biology Teacher for North Lake Early College High School. I am a first generation college-graduate and I received my Bachelors of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington in May of 2022. This will be my first year teaching and I am excited to mold the minds of students. My goal is to get to know my students so I can best meet their needs. I focus on not only their cognitive development but also their emotional and social wellbeing, which is equally necessary for learning to occur.

Chemistry
I was born on the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico and a Post-Baccalaureate of Science in Medical Technology from the University of Puerto Rico-Medical Science Campus. I worked as an ASCP-certified Medical Technologist in Puerto Rico, Texas, and Tennessee for over five years. It was this experience in the medical field that led me to feel passionate about teaching science and pursuing a career in education. In 2001, I earned my master’s degree in education with a minor in Early Childhood from the University of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.
My teaching career started in August 2001 in the state of Tennessee. I taught there for ten years as a biology and chemistry teacher at the middle and high school levels. In 2011, I relocated back to Puerto Rico and taught at a private school for eleven years as an AP Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and Biology teacher.
I believe that students take ownership of their learning when educators, administrators, and all staff members provide students with ample opportunities to create a dynamic learning environment that fosters the discovery of their individual talents. As part of my teaching philosophy, I envision each student as a global leader who will shape a changing world with integrity and compassion. As an Honors Chemistry teacher at North Lake Early College High School, I am excited to be part of this AWESOME team of professionals and committed to continuing my passion for teaching. This is going to be an AMAZING year!
