Steven is a proud founding teacher at NLECHS entering his 13th year of education. Steven also holds the distinction of CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, CrossFit Kids Trainer, Professional Youth Coach Certification from Brand X Method, Precision Nutrition Level 1, and is a USA Weightlifting Club Coach. Steven is currently pursuing the distinctions of becoming a CrossFit Level 3 Trainer and becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist this year.
Steven was a 3-year Varsity Tennis player at Naaman Forest High School. He then went on to play Tennis at a high level in the amateur ranks. Steven then walked on the football team at TAMUC at receiver. After his athletic career he found CrossFit and shortly after that started competing in the sport of Olympic Weightlifting. Steven placed 1st place at the 2017 Copperhead Weightlifting Championships in the 85Kg weight class and continues to compete to this day to qualify and compete at a national level meet.
Prior to coming to North Lake Early College High School, Steven spent 6 years at Richardson Classical Academy where he affiliated the school as a CrossFit Affiliate and CrossFit Kids program. He’s led professional development for 2 years for the physical education coaches at sister schools in the DFW metroplex. He also currently coaches at two CrossFit gyms in the Richardson area and started and coaches a youth athletic development program. Along with being passionate about teaching functional movement and teaching health and wellness, Steven serves as a Captain in the United States Air Force Reserve. He is passionate about every student having the tools and skills to reduce the risk of chronic disease and maintain a healthy lifestyle through improved fitness, nutrition, and behavior.
